I plan on moving to Henderson NV within 6-8 months. Reading up on NV's smog and registration laws they state that any car 68 or newer must be smogged to be registered if it is driven over 2500 miles a year. I have a 69 Buick that I daily drive. My question is how can NV smog a car that has no emissions equipment? What are they looking for? Has anyone here had any issues getting a 1970 or older car smogged?

Im not familiar with Nevada's test, but I am pretty familiar with state emission testing in general ( I'm an expert in NY testing!:Smarty: )

They're probably testing for HC and CO doing a standing idle test.

You should see if you can find out the test limits or maximum levels. I remember getting my 69 Riviera emissions tested back before NY went to a safety only. The HC limit was 800 ppm. I forget what the CO limit was. My Riviera ran so clean it was putting out the same emissions, as a then new 89 Taurus was emmitting

A few tips to ensure a passing grade would be-

A fresh tune up including adjusting the carb, an oil change (important) and bring it in fully warmed up.

Im sure a local repair shop can put the car on a 5 gas analyser to see where you stand in relation to the state limits.
