I have, but all I purchased was a dash speaker from them. He seems like a nice, knowledable guy. It was shipped out promptly. I didn't have a radio coversion done or anything like that.
Yup, I have their GM "special rectangle" 8 ohm speakers in both GS's. In fact I ordered one just last week. It was $59 shipped and it arrived in like 2 days. Guys are good and they ship fast.
I bought one of there 6x9 speakers for my GS. No probs, and came with the hardware to convert to a single terminal hook-up.
Sounds good. I plan to have my AM radio converted over the winter. AM/FM Stereo with an input for an MP3 player.
There was a guy in upstae NY that HMM featured. He did the MP3 thing for HMM's Craig Fitzgerald's 68 Riv Radio.
I used this guy to do the radio in my Wildcat, he repaired and "hot rodded" the factory AM FM radio and added a MP3 hook up. I was very happy with his work, i just can't remember what his name was. Definitely the same guy as was used in the Hemmings article though.
bought several speakers from them, great to deal with, a wealth of knowledge, I will be sending them the AM/FM Stereo from my 69 Riv for repair/refurbish when funds permit
These guys appear to do the same thing: http://vintageautoradio.com/ I have no experience with them tho
Or, if you're mechanically/electrically inclined and want to take on this conversion yourself... http://www.radiosforoldcars.com/newradio0F.htm
Thats the guy, Robert was great , he even went online and scrounged up a fader for me when the one that was on my radio turned out to be bad. I have been very happy with the job he did on my radio. Its not really comparable to a modern car stereo but it is waaaaay better than anything that came in our cars from the factory plus with the jack for the MP3 you can use your ipod or a satellite radio as an input.
Larry, Ken S. from near them in Minn, had them do the same surgery as you. He said they do good work. Considering the same for mine if I decide not to do stock.
