Anyone else getting emails with the latest "worm" virus?

Over the last week, I've been flooded with emails containing the latest worm. I've "sent" and received over 100 emails and I've scanned a few times and nothing's come up as infected.

The name of the worm is W32.Mydoom.A@mm.

My Norton is updated and thank God it's there because it's catching all these infected emails.

Any suggestions as to how to get rid of this thing?

    Robert,

Thanks for the tip! That looks like it's really involved. Is there a removal tool to download or will I have to do it manually?

I only had to do the check since I wasn't infected.
Click on the "Removal Tool" and save it to your desktop then open it from there.
Since you have to disconnect your internet connection before you start, first print out the instructions just in case you need to run the full removal application.
Depending on what's on your drive, the check might take awhile.
    I hope this helps.

    Brett,
Your being effected because other people's contact lists are being hijacked by the virus. If NAV is picking it up before you open the Email then you should be OK.
Good thing you straightened out the NAV thing!
Do you have Ad-aware 6 or Spybot installed on your puter.
They would pick up the virus if it is on there.

    Bill,

You're absolutely right about getting the Norton squared away! Damn good thing...I'm going to download ad-aware 6 in a few minutes...

I have been getting about 5 virus infected e-mails per day in the last week. Norton caught them all. Randy

  9. I'm getting infected emails sporadically. My McAfee hasn't even had to catch them, as my Cable service has it's own anti-virus software that is catching them and quaratining before they get to my computer. I do keep McAfee updated daily.

I just deleted 2 viruses off my computer that wouldn't let me log into this website since yesterday morning. All other sites were OK, I thought the website crashed or something. My son and I ran adaware and updated our mcaffee and removed the bad files.

I just think it's strange that it only affected this website.:Brow:

  11. that wasn't the case at all. this site was down due to the service provider upgrading their internet connection.

Dave, that may be so, but I definitely had a serious problem and could not log on to this site. I emailed another member, and he said he had no problems and the site is working fine. That's when I had superdave (my son) take a look at things. I would think a server upgrade would not take 2 days and others were able to post during the time I was down. There must be others with this same problem.

Has anybody else been having problems?

(oh yeah, that's right, if they can't log on, how could they read this?)
