Hi Guys, Having a moral dilemma here! I'm moving from the turbo cars to 70-72 big blocks and am looking to buy as soon as i find the right car. I really want a stage car, but i also love drag racing. Can, or do any of you race a real stage1 in say the mid-lo 11 sec range without tearing it up?
Greg Gessler does!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.gesslerheadporting.com/m...6dd80023623d/99e1d8841cc12cea85256e1a00046920!OpenDocument
If you find a real #'s matched Stg-1, remove the engine, trans, and rear. and then have fun! Once you blow the original engine the value won't be there. Bill
I raced my 70 Stage1 as often as I could(including almost every late Sat. night for 10 years). Got thrown out of the track for not having a roll bar more than once. I refused to cut the car up for the sake of going quicker. I retired the car from serious power upgrades in 2000. Doin' a frame off and gonna put a cheater stock appearing motor in it and cruise it on nice summer days. I too like to race and I just couldn't see myself thrashing a real Stage car to death. The final straw was when I heard the chassis groan:eek2: the last time I took it to the track.
I have a question kind of like that. Can you make a 425 Nailhead run high 10's without butchering the chassis and interior, cause a 10 second 425 in an all-steel car would be freaking awsome. Just bring your toilet paper and a bed pan cause you won't make it through the ride without puckering up back there.
