OK got the Suburban. Replaced the missing 7-way outlet for the trailer. used the trucks heavy duty tow harness with brake and auxillary wiring. I still need to go to the dealership to get the hearness to plug in a controller(I take it that is how you activate this wiring?) looking for a GOOD brake controller. I've seen raves about the Tekonsha Prodigy. what do you all think?

Had one installed on my Expedition about a month ago. So far, so good. Do not have anything to compare it to. The main reason I purchased it is because the RV dealer where I bought it had it on sale and it wasn't much more than the other units on display.

Mine is the Tekonsha Voyageur, about 7 years old now.
Pull a large travel trailer with a Ford F250.
Your GM should have a port under the dash & a harness in the glove box to connect the controller. Don't forget to check the aux. relays in the tow package & install them if not already there.
Still works like new, very reliable, very user friendly.
Prodigy may be the newer model, you shouldn't have any troubles.
