Hey fella's, don't mean to bring up an old thread but i'm a new guy here. Especially new to Buick's being a Ford guy. I have a 61 Lesabre with manual brakes and looks like brake boosters are non existent at the parts stores. i'm picking up 2 67 dual MC's tomorrow cause i'm not sure what piston i have. there was a post on here by metalguy saying an 85 monte carlo setup worked. Can anyone confirm this? wasnt an 85 a disc brake car? so a proportion valve would be needed correct? I'm just trying to get some actual testimonies before i dish out more money. this car is the wifes car, and my 2 small children will be riding in it so i want to make it as safe as possible. Thanks ahead of time and i love this site! lots of good stuff here.

I think that on a 61 you have a 4 bolt master, yournew one will have 2. You can use a 67 full size Buick for a booster if you want power brakes.

I have a disc / drum set up on a 61 and it's run of the mill GM 8" dual diaphragm booster and dual master, nothing special and you can buy em anywhere

    Works very well.

thanks guys, for now i'll plumb the new dual MC and leave some slack for a future installation of a booster. Like i said, none of the parts stores carries any brake boosters and everything is coming up out of stock. I'll order online, but then again i might just go with disc brakes while i'm at it.

Fella's, Brakes are done and working great. The "issues" I was having was I thought the push rod was too short and the pedal was hitting the floor, here it was bottoming out in the master cylinder. So I thought the brakes needed bled more. Still bottoming out. Checked the brakes, Wheels spinning way too freely. front needed a serious adjustment, rear was okay. So, my advice, always check and adjust brakes after a MC conversion.
