Anybody have the release (throw out bearing) come off fork?

I have this ‘68 Camaro at work, the clutch will not release from flywheel most of the time to get a gear.
I installed a new flywheel, pressure plate and clutch, and the throw out bearing provided with the kit.
Yes, the throw out bearing is installed properly on the fork.
I removed the fork boot on the bell housing, and the fork just pivots back and forth like there’s no bearing attached anymore.
I’m going to look at it tomorrow with my inspection camera and verify.
    How does this happen?
I’m getting frustrated as this was sent to one shop for engine/trans R@I, another place for the engine tear down /re assembly, and trans elsewhere for supposed going thru, then back here for marriage again.

The throwout bearing is on the input shaft. It can only go up to the pressure plate or away from it toward the transmission. The clutch fork slides into it and bellhousing pivot ball. I'm with you, how does this happen? Did they use a short clutch fork?

I’m not sure if the clutch fork is the correct one or not, these parts (engine and trans) went to different shops who knows what happened
I’ll see what I find out when I look at it with my inspection camera.
I feel I may have to remove the trans to correct this, I hope noto_O

It should be obvious if you can get the inspection camera in there. Obviously, it is mechanical and not hydraulic, which would be even weirder.

I looked yesterday and clearly saw the bearing sliding forward and backward on the input shaft, it was still connected to the forko_O
Everything was doing what it should.
I’ll chalk this one up to my inexperience of manual transmission experience :D
I weeded thru the YT videos and found a helpful one on adjusting the pushrod.
Only thing now is it won’t stay in 3rd unless you keep your hand on the shifter:rolleyes:
    The engine runs nice tho:p

Max Damage I'm working on it!

Make sure the shifter linkages are all snug and properly bushed. If there is slop in the shifter it could cause the 3rd gear pop out issue.
