Wow... I feel pretty fortunate. It looks like my crank pulley sheered off (mounting bolts still intact) and is laying somewhere trackside in Bowling Green. The best I can figure is it happened during 1st round, bracket 1 against Todd Borland. It was just a basic steel pully, I didn't realize it would see that type of stress. Nothing is binding and the alternator spins freely. I'm packing up for a three day work trip but will be back mid week to get under the car. From a quick initial inspection, it doesn't look like it hurt anything. I'd like to continue to run the alternator, what's my best bet to go with on a replacement (Romac balancer)? I'm just glad it must have went off the track (with the belt) and didn't hurt anybody/anything. I can't believe I didn't catch it once I pitted and was packing up... John
During Saturday eliminations there was a belt lying on the centerline possibly 100 foot past the finishline, but I didn't see a pulley. I use a stock 350 crankshaft pulley that I turned down to just one groove, on a ATI balancer. By the way, GREAT looking car you have there!!!
