Anybody else watch the first 2 episodes of Top Gear with the new hosts?

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

The original British Top Gear is probably my all time favorite TV show, and my DVR's memory is over 90% used up with recorded old episodes with Jeremy, James, and Richard. Been watching the last few versions with hosts that just didn't fit the bill, were annoying, or were trying to be funny when they're not. The last season wasn't too bad, and I realize Matt LeBlanc is an actual car guy which I appreciate, but watching Joey from "Friends" say words like "bloke", "bloody", "bonnet", etc. just seemed forced, weird, and scripted. I think Matt would make a fine host if they come back out with an "American" version again.....

Anyway, after watching the first two episodes, I think they've finally got it right again. Chris Harris was the highlight of the last series, and they kept him thankfully, the guy is funny and can genuinely wheel a car. The other two guys Paddy and Andy are funny, too, and you can tell they all get along but flick each other crap. If you get a chance, watch episode 1 for sure, it gets back to the old original formula, but episode 2 is kind of a snoozer to me (mostly because it's basically all electric cars), but it was good to watch a show where I wasn't really interested in the content and had to pay attention to the hosts more so I got a better feeling for them.

The one thing I absolutely hate that they're doing now: Apparently they aren't showing the Stig run the test track anymore, they just tell you the time the car did after their segment on it. WTF is up with that? Episode one they tested the new Ferrari 488 Pista and McLaren Long Tail. I was really looking forward to seeing them run, especially on a split screen like they used to do so you could see them at the same place on the track at the same time, but they just told you the what they ran and the Ferrari set the lap record. Man, I want to see that thing run during the show, not have to google it and watch it on Youtube the next day. Especially when it's the fastest lap ever. Total letdown.....Other than that, I'm happy my favorite show might actually be back the way I like it. Even if it'll never match the original, it's looking very good and worth watching again.
