I was going through my special section in my brother's garage and I came accross a ST-300 (two-speed) switch pitch tranny that I had in a 67' Special. This tranny had about 129K miles on it when I yanked it. What is the story with these tranny's? I've heard that the smaller switch pitches are pretty much junk. Is that true? Is it worth freshening up or should I scrap it and get the beer money?:beer
Other than originality, I can't think of any reason why anyone would want to keep a 2-speed trans (s/p or not) when you can bolt in a TH350 or a 200-4R.
At least hold on to the converter from the 300 as that is the one we use when swithching over to the ST-400. The trans is probably good for beer money though.
