Core availability is what increased the repair of existing camshafts,but some understand how to do it correctly and some don’t.
Welding a cast cam core pretty much works out most of the time. A BILLET cam core is a different story. There is a reason why a BILLET core is used for a roller application. D&D Performance of Ontario had several BUICK damaged billet roller cam cores welded and heat treated. And had it reground by Crower. The lobes failed and wore out in no time. The weld isn't the same Billet steel material. Too soft even with heat treating.
