We have a 1971 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 Convertible with VIN # 434671H100576. In 1971, the "H" (which indicates the FLint Michigan Plant) does not appear under the 1971 Model Plants that produced this car according to the Year One Catalogs references. We have heard rumours of 8 "Zone Cars" (cars made for the different geographical sales zones in the U.S.) produced in 1971. Does anyone have any way to verify this rumour or explain why my car was made in Flint, MI instead of one of the other assembly plants listed for 1971???? Did the Buick GS Stage 1 have the front spoiler or was that only the GSX?? Lastly who would be the foremost authority on the GS Stage 1 Convertible? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Paul - Welcome to the V8Buick board. Your questions would best be asked in 'The Bench', or the 'Paper Trail'. More people may view them there. I'm not sure what Year One states, but yes, Stage1s were built in Flint MI (code H) in the 1969-1974 model years. I'd also note MOST were built at Flint. The front spoiler was available, but not the rear spoiler (on convertible models). Ask your questions - there are many knowledgeable people here. Again, welcome. PS - I run a factory Stage1 registry. And yes, Buick has a few too, but nothing like the rest.:laugh: Good ref material, I'd say the Buick 71 Service Chassis Manual, 71 Body by Fischer, & 71 assembly manual. I have an extra 71 Servise Chassis M. if your interested. I see the others on ebay alot. I have an early year 71 stage1 conv. ("9A" 1st week in Sept) also, (judging from the serial #) looks like yours may be the earliest 71 stage 1 we have in Marco's reg. What does the Fischer plate say on the firewall 8D or 8E?o No:
