Hey Folks, I got the Wildcat out to its first car show and my first meeting of many of my new clubmates in the Ancient City Automobile Club (show was Saturday at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind). I met some wonderful people and was happy to see the Wildcat get the attention that it got. It brought smiles to many... especially to those that had never heard of a Wildcat. Out of 160 cars in the show the Wildcat was the only Buick in the bunch! Below are some photos of the cars that really caught my eye. Yes there were many Corvettes, most notably the "Top Flight" restored example behind my car (whose owner was very cool and humble). But the cars that caught my eye were: The Fairlady Z is a super rare Datsun with a neat story, the Triumph TR4A was the cleanest original I'd ever seen, and the 83' Turbo 280Z (one owner car) had just 16,273 miles on the clock. I got positioned between a Z06 convertible and a Swinger (and both of those owners were amazing). The Z06 owner brought his '65 Wildcat last year and was kicking himself for not having it there along with mine! Enjoy, Matt
Bummer. This is the first year in the last 8 I didnt make that show. To tell ya the truth I totally forgot about it. They would not have parked us together though. Im always in a modified class.
How did the judging go in your class. I've placed in 2012,13, 14 and 17. Still chasing the 50/50 win!
Thanks for the comments guys. It was a great show. Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to enter the car for judging this time around. It was my first meet up with the Ancient City Automobile Club and as the hosts of the show the club didn't enter/judge their own cars. We had a lot of fun after the show too... cruised it top down through the historic city and got many "thumbs ups". The comment that I overheard at the show, by a woman talking to her husband, was, "Oh my Gosh it's a Buick... wow Buick has fallen a long way since 1964".
