I had to do some research on these to find out what they were and how to remove the refills from these things. After playing with them for a while I managed to get one of the pivoting ends off by pushing in the red button and pulling the part off that holds the refill in place. The big selling point of these (back in the 50's & 60's) was the airfoil portion of the holder prevented the wiper blades from liftng off the glass when you were driving at higher speeds. The red dot portion functions as new and they clean up like new also. The red dots are slightly faded and I did not want to experiment by trying to clean them but the buttons are solid an show no signs of deterioration. These are the 16" variation meaning that the holders take 16 inch inserts/rerfills. I shined one of these up without difficulty using "Semichrome" polish but did not detail it perfectly. I left one like it was when I found these yesterday for comparison. If they don't sell, the macro photos provided in the listing will at least show how things used to be manufactured in the United States.
