Visited that one near Paris this evening. 4 years ago, stupid kids took an extinguisher, broke the side windows, and sprayed the extinguisher content in the car, with all damages you can expect from this acid substance.

The body is in a very good condition (no rust at all), but the interior needs to be redone completely (seats, carpets, dash paint). The car was in his garage among old Rolls, Lamborghini, E type Jag, Porcshe 911, WWII Ford jeep, French oldies, etc...Spent 3 hours with him, great fun.

He could sell the Centurion for less than $4000, and I am wondering if it is reasonable...
    # is 4666714155514, sold new in Sept 71 by DELONG MOTORS INC, Gainesville, GA, 18113. Black with beige interior.

I noted some strange things for which you may provide some advise:

    1) The hood has the port holes like mine. The seller insured he never changed it since he imported it in 1989. I start to wonder if some export models were nor fitted with the (fake) drilled hood ?

    2) manual window, manual seats, quite rare on a Centurion. At least, cheaper to restaure...

    3) the speedo is in MPH as usual, but on the lower arch , below the needle, it is printed in Km/h. I would buy the car just for that ! I could not get a pic because of all the dust on it.

Very interesting...another LeSabre hood on a French Centurion.

    Does it have AC?

The VIN you have is wrong - the "4" in the middle should be an X, Y, or C, indicating the assembly plant. I'd love to see a build sheet on this car! Did you ever find yours, Jean-Luc?

    you wonder

you almost wonder of Buick didn;t use the portholes/ventiports on the exports so there would be brand recognition.

    1) Yes, it has AC ...as mine did (and still has ), which mean with the compressor in the trunk....

    2) If I go further with his car, I will llok better at the # I just noted it from a hand written invoice that was in the glove box. For me, by the way french people script heir letters, a Y is most likely to ressemble a 4.

    3) I never found the build sheet, but I never looked for it to be honest. If I am a good pupil, it should be on the top of gas tank once I take it off ? am I correct ?

Have you ever had your back seat out? It could be there, or anywhere really. Just keep an eye out for it..

$4,000 for a truly rust free Centurion sounds like a good price. The interior items can come from a variety of Buicks, so they are available. 2 door Door panels in good shape might be a challenge but the rest is easy. The scissor style roof meant a full size back seat not a "convertible only" seat. I don't know the numbers but I've never seen a black centurion before, if it's correct it seems fairly rare.

I had manual windows on my Centurion and the passenger rear window takes a good stretch to reach. Anyone under 6 feet wil probably need to walk around. That window is the main reason I changed to power windows. It's a quirk of mine but a convertible with the roof down and just the rear windows sticking up looks really dumb.

Took it out several times (and even once remained off for 1 month at the upholstery's shop). Never found anything but old chewing gums, pieces of cakes, and a couple of coins.

I found 3 build sheets in my Centurion Coupe-one in the back seat bottom cushion, 1 is (still) between the back seat top cushion and the sheetmetal of the trunk and the last I pulled out from under the front seat- right in the middle. I could not believe that one, it was just dangliing off the bottom of the cushion. Good luck! :bglasses:

If the speedometer has dual markings then it was definitely an export order
