Bidding has ended on it, but it is still awesome! Never seen or heard of one before!?!?! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...=4551422662&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MESE:IT&rd=1
that's actually kinda cool... though he clearly states it needs work... turbo is in need of a rebuild. either way that's something i haven't seen before heh
I saw that ad a few days back the car is cool. Since it has digital dash I wonder if the speedometer clocks out at 85?
Where have you been Cody? Stuck in your '76's V6? :moonu: T-type Rivs were put into production in '81. Before that in '79 there was S-type Rivieras. But they were called "Riviera S." Not all of Riviera S's had turbos, and were only produced '79 & '80. As stated above '81 started the production of the T-type Riv. For that particular generation under 2,000 T-type Rivs were produced each year from '81 to '85. Then with the re-design of the Riv production went over 2,000 car per year until they were discontinued in '89. :Smarty: If I were to get a T-type, I'd want a '79-'85 convertible t-type. The cars look ok, Im just not one to dislike or like them.
i don't believe ANY rivieras came with turbos. that is a custom done setup on this one. i know of 1.. count 'em 1 GTP with a turbo setup ... it was 88 or later however after the switch to front wheel drive.
LOL! Actually, I have been kinda stuck in looking for a 350 SBB for my '76. Time to remove the "odd fire" and put in some "good fire". :bglasses: Well, and to be quite honest, I haven't had much time to research some of this stuff(such as cars like the rare rivi on ebay). The saying is true I guess, you should learn something new everyday. :TU:
I had an S-Type '85 (just meant it came with the 307), but there was definitely T-type 85's. I didnt know that they made T-types in the small body Rivs, though. In the big body style the T-type Riv came with the 231 turbo'd v6. You can KIND of see the 231 in this series of shots of this '84 Riviera t-Type... and yes, its factory. Like I said though, never heard of any factory small body turbo'd rivs. http://community.webshots.com/photo/292003839/292004298Rnaoum
ah cool i stand corrected, that's the rear wheel drive one though which i may have figured would be the one to have a turbo. however i'm really sure the front wheel drive one's never had one. not sure what year they switched it over either. interesting though. oh and for hosting pictures, can't beat www.flickr.com
Nope, they were front drive from '79 on. Same as the Olds Toronado/Cadillac ElDorado of the same vintage. Edit: I found that picture using google, I have my own domain/server, thanks though
86 was the first year of the smaller Riv. 86-89 had the "touch screen" CRT graphic control center. None of the 86-93 Rivieras were ever offered with a turbo from the factory. I love these cars. The T-type was always my favorite. I wish I still had one to commute with today.
dang. guess i'm really learning something new here. shows just hwo much i know abou the riv's. however i know a pretty good deal about the regal lol, i just kinda figured the two shared similar things along the way despite being totally different underlying frame and everything. ... i guess before i say that, i should have you confirm they weren't G-Bodies like the Regal/Monte/Cutlass... It seems i've been wrong more than right in this thread.
Wow! not to harp on anybody here, but there is a lot more wrong than right. Riviera T-types were produced were produced from 1981-1989. Turbos were produced in 79-85. S-Types with turbos in 1979 and 1980. Very few were ever made, around a thousand a year actually, some years more, and some less. For more info. http://www.rivowners.org/features/productn.html
Riviera, Eldorado and Toronado are on the E-body platform. I believe the only year Riviera wasn't on the E-body platform was '77 & '78 when it switched to the B-body and shared it with the LeSabre.
