I have been streaming video through Apple TV's for years. Tried using the fire stick but it was a little easier to use the Apple TV so I stuck with it.
I hated my Amazon firestick bad enough it went into the garbage in less than 1 month. Between Hulu, Roku, Apple T.V., Netflix and multiple free streaming websites it makes the firestick obsolete.
I've had all those services with the Firestick. I currently have Netflix, Hulu, Prime and over the air TV on my Firestick. I have also had Disney+, Starz, Paramount+ all working just fine on the Firestick. One skinny remote does everything and made my old Harmony Hub obsolete.
I'm about a month or so into cutting the cord from Comcast. While I kept their modem for the time being - and plan on ditching that as well - overall, I don't hate the Fire Stick. My friend set it up when I got it and there's more shows/movies on these add-ons than I'll probably watch in my lifetime. Between free Hulu, Netflix and Paramount+ programming, I'm not missing cable one bit. The cost dropped about $100/month and the speed went up. Comcast did try and get "cute" with billing last month, though and charged me the old rate. I called them out on it and got the difference refunded and the price lowered. I may until football season to get an HD antenna but may not even need one as one of my add-ons has every sport you can imagine.
I just ordered a new one this morning, one of our foster dogs thought it was a toy and chewed it, it worked for awhile but finally gave up the ghost last night. I ACTUALLY HAD TO WALK UP TO THE TV TO TURN IT OFF THATS BULLCRAP
the place where firestick really makes a difference is if you hack them to watch free stuff. other than that a roku or any smart tv will do exactly the same thing. if you want like hulu or something.
