My '65 Skylark has an AM radio. Is there an AM/FM that will fit in the original space?
Doesn't have to be an original radio, I just don't want to cut the dash. And I don't want to pay OCR $400 or $500 for one of theirs.

    Thanks, Harry

A friend bought a custom auto sound for his 55 Chevy. It didn't work when he got it or after he sent it back. And the service from them and Danchuck where he bought it stunk. Buyer beware.

Hi, Kenwood has a 60 watt am/fm tape that fits in your dash and is available from year one. I have a custom auto sound stereo that fits in the the dash and it sounds like my old transister radio I had when I was a kid(time for a new one). I think it only has 20 watts. The gentleman that I bought the car from sent it back to CSA to have it serviced. I might try the Kenwood this Spring. Good Luck! Mark

if you are looking for a used 2-shaft CD changer controller, the kenwood is ok, but if you can find an old blaupunkt "NASHVILLE" and it's changer you would be doin even better. it has a look that more blends into classic car dashes. has more power built in too!

sony built a radio about 15 years ago called the XR6500. it was a "high power" 2-shafted changer controller with 2 sets of pre-amp outputs and had sony's best ever cassette player featuring not only dolby B, but dolby C also. had a nice music search system for cassettes and logically laid out changer controls.

also look into http://www.ssiamerica.com/ for a pretty neat NEO CAR JUKEBOX mp3 player. i have one and it has a 160 gig HD and can hold 35,000 mp3 songs saved at 320kbps.
they are lil clunky at times, but fun and lots of tunes pays off.

Thanks for all the input. I really don't care about CD changers or MP 3. I mostly just want an AM/FM. If it has aCD player,OK. If it has a tape player, OK.

I, live with my (so-far) non-working AM Radio. The teen-agers are so "Thrilled" with the floating-ball and the words B-U-I-C-K on Each button. As it should be. Buy a decent stereo ( if that is your plan) put it under the passenger seat or in the thrunk.
