I'm selling 4 wheels $150.

But offers me $75.......how many wheels would he get?

Not on Facebook, been told it's the wild wild West no ethics at all.

 

First there with cash gets the stuff.....it's a cut throat market. I have another story about last week but that's for another post.

 

Facebook marketplace is very cut throat (at least around here it is). If an item comes up for sale that you'd like to have, you better hope your the first one to see it. Then contact the seller immediately and hopefully you'll stand a chance of getting it. I have tried going the nice way like it's done here only to get pooped on.

Prime example of cut throat...... I had a time and place and the guy decides not to sell them and hour before we scheduled because another guy offered him twice the amount......so I messed with him and pretended I thought it was $100 a wheel. I'm sure I ruined his day and the guy that offered him double.

 

CL..... I don't think I ever sold anything on there but I bought some stuff. The potential buyers always appeared lonely and wanted to just email back and forth.......or talk on the phone.

Try some of the other venues like "offer up".......now that is jamb packed with idiots.

 

Well, I'll say this much for facebook, at least there is a way to reach people and you get pictures. On CL half the time the poster has no clue how to use anything with a keyboard. You call and get an answering machine - no return call. It's also a PIA to search 3 separate craigslist areas to cover your area.

 

I guess he didn't want this stuff that bad.......threw an offer got a counter offer but too busy to pick it up. According to Facebook he lives in the next town 10 minutes away.

I still have it here .....go figure.

 

Tell him make it and even $1,000 and you'll deliver it. Next thing he says "oh that would be great but I just joined the army and I won't be around for awhile, but I still want it"

 

I’ve had far more success selling on Craigslist compared to Facebook Marketplace. I just always make sure to have whatever I’m selling sitting out in the driveway with all the garage doors closed when they come to pick it up. Way too many no shows on Marketplace.

 

Market place is about the worse with the most exposure. If I could make a sale on just 1/10th of the "interested" or "is this still available" inquires I'd have it made. Lost count of the number of guys that are interested but never show or follow up. Last week I did have one guy come all the way from Orlando,3.5 hours, to look at the 85 Riv. He liked the car,had me put it on the lift for inspection, left on a positive note but have heard nothing sense. No response to my last message.

 

I'm cleaning out the garage and selling whatever I don't need.

Here just a few minutes ago...... He had to talk me down from $18 and " MAYBE'HE he will come later..... And just wants my address.

Sure just drive out with no appointment at your convenience. No address will be given to him.

I'll wait for the next buyer.... I had it listed 5 minutes before he contacted me.


I get this stupid stuff Every day.... But I do get some good buyers too. Make a time bring cash load up and they go.

Time waster ........I went and got the tires removed for this guy. I thought he really wanted them rims.

 

I think that it was Stevie Nicks that said "The older I get, the more I like animals and the less I like people." I gotta agree with her (most present company excluded). Yesterday I waited for an hour for a contractor who doidn't show up or call to say that he couldn't keep the appointment. It cost him a shot at a $50,000 job. I guess that he doesn't need money.

 

Some people have no care or respect for other people or their time.

 

Don't think I could do it, especially for a few hundred bucks, Brian......I'd lose my s*** on half the stuff you've posted, even the first time around. Looks like you're dealing with it every single day. No way.

 

Yepp I hate throwing stuff away.....but Every time I post anything it's lime a rock got turned over on FB....This guy yesterday offered me $15 on a $18 item. Then he said " may be " he can pick it up and wanted my address.....I didn't give it.

Another guy bought it this morning who could tell me when he was going to be here.

But the $15 man sent this to me. It's just society...... Downfall. The good news is Marijuana has been legalized for recreational use in 2020 in IL............I can only imagine the messages I'll get after that goes into affect.
