All the valve covers for the "nailhead" engines will fit. Offy still makes them, and NWspeed equipment now offers new 'Eelco' covers. The later 'Buick' cast covers will also fit. The finned valley covers are also the same for all years-53-66.

I had planned to go up to that swap meet next weekend. I have heard, that in WI this considered right up there next to opening day of deer season.

I saw a dressed up 322 nailhead engine with all the polished valve covers, and valley pan cover. Could not believe how cool that looked. I am going for the same look on my Century, I am also having a 67 GS Starwars aircleaner "chrome plated" for the finnishing touch so all of it can match up.

    Thanks :beer

    RE: '55 Air Cleaner

Is it possible to Chrome Plate a Plastic "Starwars" Air Cleaner?

It was my understanding that the base material had to be of metal composition in order to be Chromed

    Inquireing minds what to know.

    Tom,
It is very possible, have you looked at the chrome plated plastic trim in most cars. :TU: Add a couple of polished aluminum finned valve covers, and a couple polished aluminum finned spark plug wire covers and it really makes the calm, sedate little 322 look like it can fly.
The great thing about this set up is, in one hour I can have the car back to correct original condition should I ever decide to.
I decided last year, that this car was not going to be a "trailer queen" , I just want to have fun with it!!!

If you would like to do the same "chromed Starwars" set up on yours, just let me know. I have 6 of these aircleaners, and all I really need is 1.

When buying the alum covers be careful of Mexican reproductions. Some people are selling them as NEW Originals. Look on the bottom rim, where you would place a gasket, The original had a groove in the center of this, where as the repros dont have any.

Now, go buy a set and put them on your car. I promise they will look even better up close. :TU:

I purchased a set of the "mexican" covers. They would look better with alot of polishing work, they are a little rough. But, I am not going to do it. They will just sit on a shelf for now
