Anyone Clear Coat their intake before you install in or just leave it alone? Looking for some opinions before I install it.
    Thanks for your Help. :beer

    Hi Kirt,

Yes....you can clear coat your intake but it will turn yellow and peel on you do to the heat and all. It will look good for a little while before it becomes flustrating to you. Clear powder coating however is a MUCH better route to go and it stays "new looking" for years! Easy to clean too.:TU:

Go here http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=53405 for some pic's of a powder coated Wildcat Cool-Runner intake that I'm sure Gary has had for some time now. It still looks new!:)

    Hope this helps..:)

Jim Weise at Trishield also offers a polishing service for aluminum intakes. I have seen them on cars and they look awesome for quite so time. They resist all stains and spills too. Shoot him an email at jim@trishieldperf.com

Depending on your budget, you may want to consider one of the metallic/ceramic coatings like Jet Hot, HPC or airborne. You probably have a local company that does coatings. Just check your "Yellow Pages". Most do powder coating and the high temp, metallic/ceramic coatings.

But definitely do not use a clear, high temp spray paint. As Kerry said, it quickly yellows and looks like crap.

    Good luck. :TU:
