    1970Stage1 Why Go Quietly?

I've always thought it would be cool to build a high winding, Buick 350. You know, the kind that makes brutal HP on 91 octane. The parts have never been available to make that kind of power, so I hope that deal with Bulldog Perf. turns into a reality. Head flow is key to power production with 350's......Right? Does anyone have an iron headed, pump gas 350 that produces 11 sec Q/M times? Thanks, Kevin

i believe we have guys here running 11's with 350's. probably with nitrous, though.

the bottom-end on a 350 is generally regarded as pretty well designed, so yes, heads are the big power limiter. although we're gonna need new rods, probably a block girdle, and a lifter bore girdle to keep from damaging anything if we start to really crank some power out.

When Jim Burek is done with my engine it'll be around 475 hp. I should be in the 12's and I'm running a larger diameter fuel line for nitrous if I ever decide to do it down the road. Mating this with a 4-speed is gonna be alot of fun:grin:

No nitrous. There are a couple of guys on this board who have 350 cars running mid 11's on motor alone. Spray them puppies hard enough and there's a 9 second ride with a buick 350. Well maybe just one though. Ouch!:stmad: :eek2:

    Hey David,
I know thats impressive, running mids 11's with a 350 like that. I'm sure those engines you're talking about are 12:1, 110 octane, non streetable engines. I'm wondering if someone has broken 11's with a 91 octane, through the mufflers street 350. Don't get me wrong, all out race cars are cool. Its even cooler when someone does it with licsence plates and a full exhaust system. Thanks, Kevin

    Yep

I know I strived to see a 13.70 something, anything like a 13.7999999999999999999999999999. but the best I ever got outta my 350 was a 13.84 at 99mph. That was on 93 octane through the muflers. quadrajet and all. I'm partial to the 350 but I finally put a 462 in that car. Now my trusty old 350 is in my daily driver 72 post coupe. Runs pretty well in that car but with a 3.73 non posi rear in it I doubt it'd set any e.t. records. ssssssspppppppiiiiinnnnnnnnn!
