I have a 72 GS455 4 spd. I have a chance to buy an aluminum Manual flywheel. Would this be a good choice for a street motor with 500hp?
    Thanks

Not unless you have really low rear end gears. I am suprised that anyone would have a light flywheel for a BBB. Maybe it was for a really light drag car? Light flywheels make the car a pain to drive on the street. They make you slip the clutch a lot more, when you get moving.

Andrew it is for an oval racer. This is my first 4spd car so I will have alot of questions when I get it apart. I did not think that it would be good for the street. Thanks for the info.

Light weight flywheels are for oval racing. Do not use them on the street or dragstrip. Puts more load on rotating assembly when shifting because rpm's drop too fast. You need the inertia generated by a steel flywheel to absorb that shock.

Only if you have 10:1 or better overall gearing in 1st.
