Didn't know whether to put this here or in race threads. Had an old time drag racer tell me to wire in a switch to the alternator so it is not charging during a run and then switch it back on at the end of the track. This way not having to pull belt off and put back on for a street car. Did a search and came up with nothing. Anyone doing this? Are there any concerns or negatives to know about?
    Thanks, David

depends on the car.if your running hei, electric fuel pump etc i wouldnt do it.try it out by just unplugging the alternator,& see how it does at high rpms.
