What date code should my 1970 GS have on it? The car has a March 1970 date on the trim tag. The engine is dated C-8. Everything falls around the first week of March. Does that mean my alternator should be dated March as well?

Someones selling an NOS 1100774 alternator dated Dec 29, 1970 for 170.00 Im wondering if this would be acceptable for my car

    Hi Jason -

Considering the alternator was built 9 months after your GS, I'd say it would not be correct for your car. It would be appropriate for a 1971 model year car built Jan 1971 and up...

As long as the part pre-dates your car...:TU:

My car is 11D and one of my heads is H6 and the other is K24...

Considering the age of the thing I think it is agreat price! After all where are you going to find another one? It does pre-date your car as marco said so no-one can tell you it dos'nt belong. It is a 55 amp I think by looking at the number. Is this what your car calls for? What are the options? Some had 37 amp but most are 55's.

Are you sure of the date code on the one you bought? I checked their site and it said August 69, still Ok but less likely.

Boy, Im doing good today! I get a double ----> :Dou: :Dou: its August 69 not December! Too many distractions at work...like work  In any case, its the correct casting which is really what I was after. Still think its a good deal though.
