I just bought a 55 super.had the generator rebuilt & my battery is still dead by the time I get home-L.A traffic sucks & I live 7 miles away from work,it takes me 45min to get home after work with the headlights on of course, ammeter reads discharge all the way home.Is there a way to either set my regulator up(they say it is ok,but who the hell knows). This traffic is killing me and my jumper cables are getting a friggen work out.
I either need to get more juice out of my generator at idle or to switch over to a alternator.
Is there any conversion kits that will fit in the stock set up?
I need help, this is my daly driver.
    Thanks:confused:

I think you could go to Autozone and get the chrome lower alternator bracket they have for SBC with headers , grind the tabs off your Generator bracket/ motor mount, drill holes for Autozone bracket and use your stock top mount/adjuster with Alternator? You may have to loose the little triangular brace for generator but I think it is over kill anyway.

There are companys that can covert your generator to an alternator. Theres a generator and armature place by me that dose it butt I have no idea how much it costs.
