The bus is famous because years ago a hiker who was using it as temporary shelter starved to death and died in it.

I read the book a few years ago. Interesting, but the kid had misguided dreams and he made a few simple mistakes that could have easily saved his life had he been better prepared. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I equate these people trying to find the bus to the same type of people who worship Hollywood actors. Put another way, idiots. Personally, I think they should remove and destroy the bus so that this sort of thing doesn't happen again. IIRC there were initially three of four buses. The others were removed years before and they left one mainly for a hunting shelter for those who still hunted the area.

Saw the movie. IIRC the kid ate some sort of non eatable plant that messed up the digestive system and he starved.

Christopher McCandless. Sad story. He had no map as well so he did not know that there was a bridge few miles up the river or something like that.

didn't see the movie but the soundtrack is cool. Eddie Vedder of Perl Jam
