Hi Everyone, Is there an online source to find the right codes for different years and engines on the "keep your GM...." decal on the sides of the air cleaner? I tried a search here but came up empty. I'm looking for the code for a 69 GS400 stage 1 auto combo. Everywhere you look for repos, they have all kinds of different codes, but don't clearly say what engine it's for. Thanks for your time.
I know the one for a '68 GS is "BC" part number 6484022 and I got that out of an assembly manual. Do you have access to a '69 assembly manual?
Hi Mike. Sort of, it's one of the repro manuals from ebay so it's incomplete. I looked through both that and the original service manual, but didn't find what I was looking for. I found 2 decals on ebay for 69 GS 400 buicks. One has BT 6485070, and the other has BJ 6484532. Hopefully someone with a complete 69 assembly manual can look it up for me.
Check Osborne Reproductions as they have the biggest supply as nobody else knows what decals are correct. You still need to find the info yourself however to be sure. 70 and 71 were also code "BC" with part #6485517 however. And Osborne nmanaged to get the number wrong by one digit so you often have to take what you can get and no one will notice anyway.
I found what I needed in the assembly manual after all. I went through it too fast the first time. I took my time while in the "reading room" and found the page listing air cleaner and the codes for the different engines. Thanks for the heads up Mike. :TU:

Great idea. Here's what my manual shows for the 1969 air cleaner decals. The standard duty air cleaner code for GS 350-400 is BR 6485044, HD air cleaner is BT 6485070. Standard duty air cleaner code for Riv GS and W04 Opt (GS California) is BK 648793, HD air cleaner is BL 6485006. There's enough key words in there that it should come up in a search.
Not that tough guys. I found them in about a minute. Just google Osborne reproductions. Click on GM then Buick then Air Cleaner decals. Scroll down. BR 648044 and BT 6485070 are both available for 4 bucks each Don't waste time with ebay.
By the way correct decal for 70 and 71 is BC 6485517. Osborne got number wrong and sells 6485617. No other choice however.
