Does anyone have any experience with this gauge cluster? Just curious if it was a direct fit, plug and play type deal.

i know the dd units on chevy trucks are direct fit and are really nice idk on buicks though.

wonder if the 68 one could work on a 66?

I have a Dakota Digital VHX carbon fiber-faced blue cluster in my 70 Camaro and will likely build one for my 66 Buick Special(they don't make a direct fit one) The one in my Camaro was a direct bolt-in but it's NOT plug and play. You'll have to use their sensors(easy to replace) and wire the control panel/ecm for it in. Took a few minutes to do the calibrations but still no big deal. Here's a pic of the Camaro cluster.

I bought the DD gauge setup. Haven't installed it yet. Just been looking at directions. It's a complete pod that bolts in behind the stock cluster after removing the orig gauges. It has one cat 5 wire that comes off to a main box that you mount under dash and run all their sensors to the engine. I also got there gps speedometer adapter. So no more messing with those little tranny gears. Seems like it won't be too bad. I got the black face/ white light for my 70 GS

Sounds cool. I'd like to see your setup once you install it

thanks. It's probably the best thing I've done to the interior as far as modernization goes. It was hard to see the factory cluster regardless of the time of day. This one lights up nice and the night time illumination is adjustable with the programming unless you buy DD's switch and then you can do whatever you want with it. Great change for the bucks and I hope I can build one for my 66 Buick Special too.

Have you installed it yet? How much was the speedo adapter? I was thinking about the speedo thing for mine. I have a column shifter so I'll have to get the shifter adapter as well.

I haven't it installed yet. Think I may be rewiring the car just simply cause dealing with 45 yr old wiring and wanting to do more modern upgrades just just felt it best to do all at once. I'm currently in CA and car is in TX, and I won't be able to even try till spring.
There are a lot of modules that can be added, one being that gps speedo. I think it was about $100. I got there dimmer switch too. I'll do a build thread when I do put them in. Good luck.
