"Aftermarket" Brake Warning Light?

I have been playing amateur electrician on my Skylark this week, and have gotten confident enough to wonder: can I add a brake warning lamp?

I've got this funny sender thing with a matching pigtail on my proportioning valve, that the lousy instructions complete ignore. Seems to me like it must be for a brake warning lamp, right?

Think its just a grounding switch? And that if I wired up switched +12V to a red light bulb, and then to this pigtail, I would end up with a working warning light, that wouldn't burn the car down? How would I test it?

(I have tried to google this, but its extremely frustrating. All my search results are flooded with idiots asking the internet "Is it bad if my brake warning light is on?? Can I just ignore it??")

Mike, you're right, it's just a grounding switch, as is used for a low oil pressure warning light. No danger since you won't be dealing with +12v except at the light itself.
