I don't want to resort to formatting my computer, so I am going to try this avenue. I have 3 files on my computer that I can't seem to delete no matter what I do...

    Lavasoft works great!

One other trick: Tools->InternetOptions->DeleteFiles + delete cookies. You'll have to re-log into the board etc, but it will kill any running files.

Ad-Aware works great!!! CyberBuick(Scott) had made another trip down here to San Diego last week. My sister's computer was getting bombarded with spyware related popups!!!!!:blast:

Tried manually uninstalling stuff with Bazooka.....what a royal pain.:Dou:

He ended up installing Ad-Aware.....what an immediate difference. Absolute piece of cake to run, find problems, and eliminate them.:TU: :TU:

I run Ad-Aware after each time I go on the net. It usually finds something each time. Its great. There is another program called SpyBot which is also good

I use both, but you know... SpyBot hasn't updated their definitions since early March!

Could be a problem on their end...

I don't know how many of you know about this program on the radio, but it's a nationwide program and her name is Kim Komando. She has a great website with tons of helpful tips....

If all else fails you can rename the offending file to. For example you have a file called leech.dll rename it to leech.xxx. Restart your computer and delete the file. There are some really bad files out there. You can also find a program called hijackthis that allows you to identify what goes on when you boot your computer. A lot of files will add themselves to the registry startup. You can also type in msconfig in the start/run command. Goto startup tab and uncheck things you don't want to boot up. microsoft also has a utility called bootvis that will analyse your start up and compress all the files used to boot so that it can improve your start time. My fastest boot time was 14 seconds.
