As some of you may know, I am in the process of moving to a new town 3 hours away from where I was due to taking a new job. I spent last weekend pulling the boxes of car parts out of the attic of my garage and packing them better. I had lost track of just how much I have. I got to thinking, and I have disassembled 8 '64-'66 Special/Skylarks over the last 11 years and put all the boxable parts in the attic. Once boxed, I ended up with a pile of boxs about 24 Ft. long and 10 ft. wide stacked 3 and 4 high! I don't have as much storage room at my new house as of now, so I will need to start getting rid of some of it soon. The magnitude of it is too large to do on Ebay. For example, I have 7 wiper motors alone! Everything I have is too good to throw away, and I need to keep some things for my own spares, but obviously don't need this much. Anyone have any ideas on how I could sell this stuff off easily without having to do it one piece at a time?
Joe, Just a tip, storing parts in carboard boxes is a bad idea! Several reasons: fire hazard, if you have any roof leaks you will have soaked parts, mice/rats love to make nests from shredded/chewed cardboard, termite buffet bar! Best storage is the stackable snap lid boxes. They cost a lil more but are well worth it.
Evil Bay... You can sell on Ebay as "WHOLESALE LOTS" Just take pictures of the open boxes and a brief message about what is in the Boxes...i.e..BOX # 1 HAS WIPER MOTORS...BOX #2 Has Interior Parts....etc..etc... Find someone you can trust that is into Cars and have them sell them at a swap meet? Or List them in the Local Trading Times or Swap magazines almost ever town has some sort of Paper that you can sell things in...... o No: Also you could do it here on this site ,Pictures of the open boxes. Don
I think once I get settled in the house that I will take out all the boxes and remove what I want to keep, then sell stuff by the box--I like that idea. I should be able to sell it a box at a time on here! I bet I have 5 '65 speedometers and 4 for a '66! I know I have all the chrome trim for a '66 4dr. ht and my '66 is a 2 dr.!
Maybe I can take some of that off of your hands! Cheryl's shopping list for 65 GS: Repairable steering wheel Front turn signal assemblies Rear tail light assembly - complete left to right Good front grill Headlight doors Thanks - Cheryl
Brian, POD storage units have become popular.....they are storage containers you can have delivered to your location....then they take it to their warehouse for storage. Might work well for you. Try a Google search. Add me to your list of '65 GS part buyers.... I recently picked up a 4 speed 'vert....a project of course! I'm primarily looking for nice chrome, both exterior and interior....do you have a nice dash? Good luck with your move. Hope you found a place with a great garage!
