Advice Needed on Body Removal

I am restoring my 68 Skylark Convertible. It is pretty well stripped. Front clip, engine & trans, interior, wiring, etc are all off. I have bought the body to frame mounting kit with new hardware. My question. Should I take the body completely off of the frame or should I just lift the body up just high enough to replace the bushings?

I'm thinking that by removing the body that I can take the time to do the frame completely with new plumbing and re-do the suspension on the rear.

I seem to recall reading in another thread a while back that it was kind of a bear to set the body back on and get it set correctly and that taking it off requires some extra work on the doors to get the gaps correct. Is this correct? The last body I removed was a 56 pickup and there isn't much to them.

Any advice, pitfalls or encouragement will be gladly accepted.

This is what the car looks like now
