hi all, before i buy an 8 1/2 eaton posi unit just wanted to know if i could just add that to my current rear, and what spline 28 30? also thinking about buying a gm 3.73 gearset. i'll be buying it from gearsareus.. thanks in advance mike

And will have all the info you need so you feel confident your getting the right stuff for you buick rear or roger is a great guy to ask too. another thing...ido i have a 3 series carrier or 2nd series...and if i ever upgrade to 30 spline axle shafts down the line would everything still insterchange from the 28 spline setup to the 30spline? thanks once again mike
28 to 30 Mike, you will have no problem useing the 3.73 gear from one carrier to another should only have to double check the backlash going from a 3 series 28 spline to a 30 spline 3 series carrier. So only the 3.73 gear will be able to be reused. The 28 spline carrier posi or open can not have 30 spline spider gears or guts changed to make it work with 30 spline axles if that is what you are asking. Jim
