ABSOLUTE TRASH! Does anyone recognize this Upholstery Mfgr? Long Rant-please let me know if you can identify the perpetrator. Does the name Classic or something like that ring a bell? The only ID I have is the sticker that was on the bag the covers were in. See picture. A couple years ago, there was a vendor on E Bay that looked to be liquidating inventory and had hundreds of seat covers for sale for several months. The box arrived and I inspected the covers quickly and they looked to be correct pattern and decent quality so I stored them n the plastic bag until yesterday when I was going to recover the bench seat. The first failure is when I started to fit the bench cover, I noticed that the material that the wire bead slides into that hog rings to the bench was not there. It looks like the A$$hole sewed it but cut it off as I can see what looks like some remnants. See picture. Red arrows show the wire that is needed to insert into the missing loop and the seam that the missing loop would normally exist in.That is that. I am not sure it is even be possible if I cut the stitch apart to sew the missing material back in since it is trimmed to the nubs, but I was thinking of it until I noticed that this may not even be worth it as I feel this whole kit is $hite! Out of morbid curiosity, I decided to fit the back rest covers. At least they appeared to have the necessary component to install, however I am beyond disappointed with the fit. It is absolutely atrocious and no amount of added padding would help. These are just too loose, not worth trying to hog ring them. The last component was the arm rest cover kit. General inspection- not impressed with the quality here. Again, this fit is too loose and unacceptable, FAIL. Defeated and out what I recall at least $200, I sit here imagining that whoever is responsible for this poor quality is being repeatedly sodomized in a Turkish prison.
I've searched all my ebay and paypal histories and can not find the original purchase, and has to be the only receipt I don't have in the folder, but, I know the volume was huge and someone here bought these covers and may have had better luck....I just got the bad one?????
I feel your pain. I bought a set of door panels for my '68 California GS back in '04. They arrived at the seller's store with glue all over the face of them (lower portion of panels were carpeted). Unbelievable. The people at the shop that made them must have been sniffing the glue. At least the seller was local, and he gave me my money back.
Did you give him feedback? If so, look through your feedback rating to find the seller. Also check your Ebay "messages". If you asked him a question, it should still be listed unless you erase your messages.
I got 70 bucket seat covers from some guy that was liquidating some warehouse inventory on eBay a couple of years ago and something just didn't look right about them. They were new but I kept comparing them to my originals and I finally saw that the waffle pattern was sewn in the covers going the wrong direction. The waffle pattern is actually a diamond emboss. I think no one would have known but it didn't look right to me so i returned them. I did get my money back minus shipping. I'll look to see if I can find any emails or addresses from my experience. lon
I found this on Paypal from Sept 2008: 1970 BUICK SKYLARK BROWN FRONT SEAT UPHOLSTERY Payment To: Debbie Kemper (The recipient of this payment is Verified) Seller's ID: debbiek614 Seller's Email: ddkemper@sbcglobal.net
Thanks, that looks very familiar. My Paypal will not let me look back that far but...I will try to contact them and see where I get.
Yeah, I bought a set also from this seller. I didn't dispute it quickly enough and lost out. Not even close to fitting correctly. My upholstery guy said he could fix them for about the same price as buying a legendary cover so I did that instead. Stitched incorrectly and they would have needed so much padding they would have looked like a barcalounger. Lesson learned. They were cheap so I gave it a shot and lost.
