This morning I hear the dump truck outside picking up the garbage cans, and I think hmm it's right next to my car I hope it never puts that arm it uses to get the cans on the car. I look out the window and it has put down one really close to the front of it. Well, that was close, close but not touching right... Wrong. How come you sense these kind of things? I had a gut feeling I was going to have bad luck today, and I spilled the apple juice and yoghurt during breakfast, then this.. I don't even dare to think about installing the HEI.. ...sigh...

Call the city, ask them where to send the repair bill.

Don't take "no" for an answer!

They're sending me a form to fill out, I found it on their site too, so it will be in the mail by tonight!

If the form is on their site I'd download it and get it filled out. Wouldn't wait for "snail mail." Just a thought. Wish you good luck in dealing with them. Sometimes crap like this can be one big hassel. :blast:

Like someone said already, it could have been alot worse. They could have squished right through the front of your car.

Just another inch or two from completely missing it!
Smaller damage like this is sometimes more difficult to settle on than if it had been a major crunch. Gotta love the insurance companies.
Be prepared to present the "before" and "after" photos
because it can be a real hassle when claiming that your car from the 70's didn't already have the normal battle scars.
    Good Luck!

That's just stupidity & laziness & blindness from the mind or the eyes. :Do No: The city will have to pay for that to get it fixed.

I've got some pretty recent photos of the car if they'll need that, this one is still in the dig. cam. dated at 4/23. You can clearly see it's ok there.

This is what it looks like if you zoom in on the front of the hood.

This one's dated 5/3, not as clear but you can still see it's not damaged.

a dozen years ago, i had the exit gate of a municipal (employee) parking lot come down on the hood of my 81 cutlass, bang, bang, bang. the hood was marked in 3 places. i notified city legal & was referred to the claims dept. a lady came & viewed the damage, admitted liability and told me to get 3 estimates. i replied "no way will i get 3 estimates. i will have my bodyman repair the damage, i will pay him, and then present u the bill. ". she repeated the 3 estimate rule. i then asked her where in law it stated that i need 3 estimates ? she could not say. there is NO law requiring that. i received payment.. cost $175 cdn. hood need painting anyway due to fading.
