My wife and I visited South Bass Island this week. Among all the excess of too many Americans on vacation in a small town, I noticed many locals flying the flag "Don't Give Up The Ship". Of course we visited the memorial on the island honoring Perry and his men for their naval victory against the British in September 1813. This "never forget" type patriotism shown by the islanders, and the story of an absolutely fearless American leader with unbelievable courage, made me swell with pride. I just felt compelled to share. To those of you that have made sacrifices and shown extraordinary patriotism, thank you.
