Hello everyone.. I new to this, so bare with me.. Just curious, i own a 70 buick with a 350.4, and recently purchased a 455 outa a 76, buick riveara. Any Idea what kinda HP gains I'll notice. Before changing the 455, which is my plans...

The early 350 MAY make more total horsepower than the late 455, but the late 455 will still make more torque, and torque, not horsepower, is what accelerates a car. So it will feel faster as soon as you drop the 455 in, and will be MUCH faster with any mods to the 455.

(The numbers in the above post don't tell the whole story because the 70 ratings are in gross HP and 76 in net HP--apples to oranges)

If the car you are talking about is an original G.S. you might want to reconsider and keep the original drivetrain intact and just build it. If the numbers game does not matter to you then by all means go big block and build it up as time and money permits. Either way you should have fun.

    where to start

If you have an original gs take a look at some that are for sale here and at hemmings. How do the values compare. original verses modified. 2nd. What kind of gas are you willing to buy? If keeping it original is worth it to you would be amazed at what a 350 can do. I have seen some guys here that are turning out 550 hp on a 350.
It mostly 3 things, Compression ratio, the cam, and time and effort into porting the heads, intake, and exhaust.
The choices are up to you,
    Good luck.
