So I was chilling out in my school parking lot today, and some guy drove up and asked me if the Buick was for sale. I told him no, of course not, this car rocks my world, but I was still pretty flattered that he was interested, you know? Then things took a turn for the worst. He asked what motor was in it, and I told him it was the Wildcat 375, which was a 340 cid motor. He looked at me funny, and told me 'they' never made a 340. "Do you mean a 350? The made a 283, a 327, a 350, and a 454." I wanted to hit the guy... ~Mike '66 Skylark 340-4
He forgot the 265, the 302, the 400, the 396, and the 427. He doesn't even know his Chevys all that well, does he? What a jackass!
heh, nobody mentioned the engine that's been the standard chebby 5.0L for decades now ... the 305. tell bubba that when he can (correctly) list at least 12 factory displacements for chevy you'll consider instructing him in buick lore. :spank: :Smarty:
I think I erased the 305 from my memory. Must've been because of the fleet of early '80s Impala wagons at my job, every one of which wound up needing a new camshaft! I also had one of those miserable motors in my '83 full size GMC Jimmy. Bad cam in that as well.
chevy made a 307 or they were just doing plug'n'play with the olds 5.0L? either way isn't going to surprise me. i know my jaw about hit the floor when my father informed me that he has a chevy 302 in the back of his shop. i'd never heard of anything but a ford 302 ... kids these days, whattaya gonna do with em? :error: if the chevy 307 is different from the olds could you clue me in as to what the bore/stroke/rod dimensions were?
