Anyone ever heard of a song "New York's A Lonely Town" by The Tradewinds?
It is definately a cool song to cruise to. The song was out in 1965,so imagine this, you're in your brand spanking new 1965 Gran Sport and this song is playing on the radio....so cool. :TU:

    Yes Sir!!

I have it on "Surfin' Hits", a CD compilation put out by Rhino Records in 1989. The notes say it was written by Pete Anders and Vinnie Poncia.

"I feel so bad each time, I look out there and find..My woodys' outside, covered with snow, nowhere to go now, New Yorks a lonely town-when you're the only Surfer Boy around..."

That CD has some really obscure tunes on it. I think you picking up on that one qualifies you as an oldies gourmet!!

Yes Patty,I picked up on this cool sounding song. I remember as a kid hearing this song on the radio and never knowing who sang it. It's only until a few years ago, that I was listening to an oldies station and that song came on the radio. After the DJ described the song and it's artist,I haven't forgotten it and never will.

Another cool tune is by The Cyrcle- "Turn Down Day".

Long live the cool cruising tunes!!!!!!!!

Green Onions,,,, I don't know who it is by. Loved it since I was a kid, it always made me think of cruzing on the coast or strips of Cali in a hot rod with the top down.

That is true that these songs are cool, but we are forgetting what the original post was about(the song-New York's A Lonely Town). This song is one of the few obscure songs and was a one hit wonder for the group "The Tradewinds".
I was just honoring that group for a great song that is so cool to listen to.
You have to admit the surf songs were so cool to listen to and only were recorded for a period of 6 years(1962-1968).
It's not too often you hear this song and too bad that it isn't heard more often.
