I'm in the process of looking for a GSX clone with Air. I have found some nice cars, but no air. How bad is it to install Air in a non-a/c car & what is the approx costs - assuming I want it to look factory. Need to know if it's easy to get parts & if it is a $1500 job or $3000 job.

    Thanks

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

The firewall opening for non-ac is much larger than AC and you will have to weld in a plate to make the opening the correct size and also may require cutting the hole larger (length wise)

A complete factory AC set-up with all hoses, ducting, controls, conversion to R134, new/rblt compressor, new expansion valve, drier etc...will easily run $800-1000. I think it would be much easier and cheaper to find an AC car...seems to be plenty of them on Ebay.

All you find is non AC cars? All I ever see is AC equipped Buicks and that is in the Northeast. Where are you looking? I wish my car was non-AC as I never use it anyway. I guess taking out the AC on my car would decrease the value as it is original Stage-1. Find a non AC 70-71 Stage-1 and maybe I'll trade you.

    rchandler so mote it be

on chevys the ac hole is bigger. you should be able to get a vintage air unit you get all the latest technology with a stock appearing interior, they use the stock controls. lines and compressor wont be original unless you change it from the kit one of these kits should run under 1300.00 complete
