my wife's car I replaced the trans ax4n with one from a 97 (used) I have no 3-4 shift junk yard says trans should be the same ford shows 2 different part #s ford says could reburn processor if trans is ok any one know any thing about ax4n or a good place to post this question junk man said need to clear codes first said trans may be malfunction off old code any help appreciated
Did a google search on the AX4N trans. Doesn't sound like a very good tranny. If you scroll down here: http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?scid=100&did=564, there is a TSB on no 3-4 shift. Are you getting an trouble code light? You may be able to clear the codes by disconnecting the battery, or PCM fuse. If not, find someone with a scan tool.
thanks larry70gs I followed up on your suggestion and ended up googling tsb 98-10-7 taurus car club archives and someone had the bulliten there. I learn alot every time I read one of your post / replys thanks for your willingness to help!!! :TU: had one of my neighbors check the code today he called to say he checked it but didnt say what he found hopefully I can catch him tomorrow after I get off from work :TU: :TU:
