I just replaced the flasher unit as my turn signals and hazard stopped working after a short intermittent period. The $125 Toyota flasher unit didn't solve the problem. The reply ussually buzzes when the turn signal or hazard is engaged. I have had a ground short problem with the heater AC control lights as an aside. I feel it's a lack of full voltage or ground problem now. Looking for ideas, and or advice as I hate taking to the shop. Thanks all, Mike

Ps It just turned 300,000 miles.

Any mechanics out there? Could the wiring/bulb circuit resistance keep the flasher from "latching"?

I don't have any direct Toyota experience, but make absolutely sure all your bulbs are good. I've seen on some vehicles even 1 blinker bulb throwing the whole system for a loop and you can get weird symptoms from not enough resistance of the bulbs.

Thanks Lucas! I'll try that. Its also so very interesting......The truck will not start with the flasher unit removed. What the hell? :)

    Hi,

I've got a 96, never had issues like what you described but I would look at the rear taillight harnesses as lots of places for wires to run through and cause a short.

Can't remember if they used relays for things, but you may want to look there, believe ttor.com or something like that or marlin crawler has a Toyota forum and some manuals online to help troubleshoot

Good luck, nothing worse than diagnosing electrical issues especially on computer controlled vehicles

    Regards,
