guys they tell me this GN rear end will go right in an A body has anyone done it??? what did you have to change ?? will the org drive shaft work ?? thanks pete
havent tried that but i have swaped a 12 bolt into my 83 regal not a bolt in swap, driveshaft will need to be shortened some. the g body rear is not as wide as the a body and the upper bushings are offset more also.8.5 from a 70-72 maybe but stil have some differences as far as i know i would do the same swap if it did fit as i am going to turbocharge my 65 special. i have done some research and if i get 3.55s for the stock 8.2 and go with 27 in tire will i get the same tire to rpm revs as a 3.42 in a gn with stock size tires.so that is where im looking :TU: andy
I am also going to use a 200r4 trans with this. As far as the control arms go, will I have to make the upper arms shorter or longer??? How bout the lowers???
i think the lowers will work if you dont use poly bushings so you have some more flex but you will need to measure total length of each rear as im sure it is shorter than the Abody and it might not be long enuff to reach outside the framerails .im going with a 2004r also that wont affect your rear end. as far as uppers i think longer but they will need to be offset . the spring perch might also need to be cut off recentered also if your planning any rear brake upgrade the gn rear isnt the best candidate for disc converion.many more parts availible for the 8.2 that should be in there now.you might want to sell of the 8.5 in favor for a custom bolt in kit from moser or who ever else has them on the gn board the posi rears get up to 800-1000 for them, more on the monte ss boards.
thanks to all for the input>>>I thought i had found sweet swap ///O well glad i asked be for i bought it thanks again all
