I would have to look back in my notes but the the cam was a really big solid lifter flat tappet. The RPM range was 3000-6500 but it LOVED the singel plane intake and it reved out nice. The engine had stock rods so we kept the revs down however with the good rods I have the RPM could really be raised up with the single plane intake. Another cool thing about this engine is it had 2" primary headers and it loved them!

Trying to make a calculated / measured decision on the oversize dbl. roller timing chain /gearset to order tomorrow, along with an adj. pressure switch for my elec. vacuum pump. That will be sweet, it cycles from 15 inches to 20 inches of vacuum. Fabing up the roller cam button, Flushing / cleaning everything. Have to open up the 2004r and replace the TCC solenoid, plus may want to put in a heavier accumulator valve / 1-2 accumulator spring to correct a bit of a soft 1-2 shift. Still have to order the 10" lockup convertor from JW........and then the correct length pushrods.

Sean, the example of the 455 is exactly what I found on my racecar. With ported iron Stage 1 heads I ran dual 750s and it ran and quickest ets. I also tried 800s and it ran about the same et but throttle response was better with the 750s. A few years ago I installed extremely well ported Stage 2 heads and right away it did not like the 750s or 800s, but when I switched to the 600s it was much better. I had tried the 600s with the iron heads and it was always slower. Also I have ran a 950 on my 350 Buick and it was not bad. Have switch now to a different one that is in the 800 cfm raange and will see how that does.

    Thanks Del,

So regarding the larger carb on the 350 I know it works! I have dyno proof of a 1000 CFM carb making more power than a 850 CFm carb on a 10:1 350...... :3gears:
