I am thinking about getting a new holley hp series. They have a 750 then the next step up is a 830. Will the 830 be to much????
I'm not sure I'm the right one to answer, but i got the right question... Exactly on what is the carb of choice to be put? o No: Lars
I see the 830 hp carb is a nascar spec. carb and i dont know if it would work any way. I have a 800 q-jet that i am going to try and see how it works.
I got a 1000 cfm Barry Grant on my 350. It makes 20+ horsepower more than a 850. Of course, I'm pushing alittle more horsepower. LOL.
I'm running an 800cfm Q-Jet on my 350 Skylark, no problem. The engine is a 10:1 comp. with some mods.,TA intake,Headers,Stinger Ignition, Very streetable, idles at 750RPM, Dynoed at 370 HP, 2800 stall conv. 3:73 gears. 13.50 at 100 MPH. Show car mostly, cruise it when my GS is down. It's my Baby:TU:
Q Jet is a little different from a Holley, of course. The smaller primaries and adjustable air sensing secondaries make it much more managable. I have a Holley 750 CFM Mech secondary double pumper type. It works very well, but I wouldn't want to go any bigger than that!
What about a 650cfm Speed Demon? Anybody had a chance to use one? I thinking between the 650cfm Speed Demon or the 670cfm Holley Street Avenger carb. Both vacuum secendarys
im running a 750 holley double pumper on mine and have no problems whatsoever i think you can go bigger than that especially if you intend to modify.
To big depends on engine performance rate, man or aut. trans (if aut. also the stallspeed) and the rear gear :Smarty: Very important to know when you chose an all mecanical opened carb! Lars
