Just got my posi carrier and looking for 8.2 Rear Rebuild Kits. I'm guessing carrier, axel, and pinion bearings, seals, pinion and carrier spacer washers, and crush sleve. I've looked at Summit and Jegs but they don't have the complete kits and I'm not sure they're even for 70 Buick 8.2's. Who sells these kits? If there isn't a complete kit is there a place where I can get all of these pieces to make a complete kit? Thanks Matt
The 68-70 Buick 8.2 is different than the other 8.2's. I don't believe anyone offers a complete rebuild kit for them, and parts are not easy to find. I also doubt Jegs/Summit is offering any correct parts for the Buick 68-70 8.2. Roger (OPh here) knows about all you can imagine on these, do a search of the board of his posts, should be able to find some excellent info.
Matt, I think I recall Jim Lore recommending Olcar Bearings Southern Pines NC 910 693 3324. Also search Mike Garrisons (Racebuicks)thread history for the repair tips for 8.2's posi unit.
rebuild kit Matt I am right here in town I can bring you what you need to Beachwood if you would like to pick - up there. all the bearing marking compound bolts seals bearings shims everything. etc. I would prefer to talk with you and make sure of the bolt size because there is early and late.
