A couple years ago I pulled a 8.2 posi carrier and 3.31? R&P out of a 68-70Buick, with the intention of putting into my 67 Lemans. Fast forward to today, I pulled out out the 2.56's and open carrier, and test fit the posi carrier. As many of you know it doesn't fit. Pinion bearing is to big and carrier bearing on one side is to big. How rare is this carrier? Is is rare but worthless, or rare but worth something. I'm hoping I can find someone with a posi carrier and 3.55 that will fit my 67 Lemans to trade with.
1968-70 Buick 8.2" rear. It would not be a 3.31 ratio. Look at the two pair of digits stamps on the ring gear. Divide the smaller into the larger and this will give you the gear ratio.

Yep - 1964-1967 Buick will use the Pontiac gears. WE carry 3.36 3.55 3.73 3.90 in aftermarket gears. We can make that BUICK posi fit the Pontiac housing also...Thing is the ring gear flange may not be close enough to get the ring gear to mesh correct. I will need some measurement from your posi carrier. If you PM I will get you a number and will go over the details and I will try to help you get something to gether the best we can and the least expensive way. CROSS them fingers your wrong on the ratio....lol. Jim
