    hey I have a 74 engine here from a 74 gs & a set of extra heads

i am slowly going to rebuild this ..

the engine ran fine ..think someone left the rear main seal off ?

I am gonna build it for a spare into either a 71 72 74 riv

what should it do as for the heads ? i would be happy just to see about 400 hp nothing fancy

reuse these heads ? or dig up some 70's heads ?

same ole same ole any help would be greatly apprecisted

  3. Find some 70-71 heads. The 73 and later had low compression.
with some flat top reliefs and decking the block .020 you should be up around 9:1 compression. Make sure that you get a good timing cover and have the oil pump gears properly clearanced. select a good cam. TA cams are great but pricey and worth it. Lunati cams are good to and a little cheaper. A good B4B intake or TA SP-1 intake with a holley will give you good power and shed alot of weight from the 50+ lb stock intake.
