Well, here's my Intake. Rough i know. I'm now cleaning it up. Degreasing, rust treating etc. What can anyone tell me about this Intake... Whats the pipe thats hanging off right side? also , whatst with the x stamp at the pipes base? I'm Rebuilding my 74 455, Gott all parts, just waiting for warmer weather to start assembling... New cam, lifters,pistons,.030 overbore, stage 1 heads(cast iron)New valves(TA performance) new stronger valve springs to accomadate the larger cam. etc.. Thanks guys and gals, any comments would be appreciated... I'll be posting engine updated pics......
That is rhe same manifold that is on my engine. The piping is for the egr system that you problably will not be using. If your heads are the 74 models this manifold will cover the holes in the heads for the emissions. If you have older heads without the extra holes then i dont think it matters. Take the pipe off and plog it so it looks a little cleaner .ED K
The pipe is part of the A.I.R. system; a black tube connects to that pipe and goes to the A.I.R. air pump on the front of the engine. Emissions stuff..... The EGR pad is the one with the two holes toward the back of the manifold. If you're not going to restore your emissions system back to looking stock, why even bother reusing that intake? Get a Edelbrock Performer or B4B. You can get either new.
